3D Projection Project - Initial Thoughts

On first impressions I was fairly underwhelmed at the task that was assigned to me on the briefing. I was beginning to think they actually gave this project to the wrong course, until I realised as a game designer I tend to have a practical approach to visual implements such as this unique technology. At the end of the day the most important thing in your games is to entertain the player as well as immerse them into the experience, to which it opened my eyes to the potential this may have for video games.

From the examples I have had the pleasure to see myself 3D projection mapping may as well prove that the so-called 3D of stereoscopic imagery is a worn out gimmick major companies are wasting precious resources on. You can practically turn your very surroundings into anything the projectors emit, something which is nearer to virtual reality than they realise. What if this wellspring of immersion is engineered to work through the interactions of a user? What if you can make video games out of this technology? I will most likely base my pitch entirely around the relevance of 3D projection mapping for video games, essentially what is now being referred to as gamifying.
